More on that ABC 9/11 movie

Well, first of all ABC is showing this inaccurate, right-wing, fictionalized movie without commercial interruption. That's fishy. Somebody's got to be paying for it. Secondly, they're sending letters about it to 100,000 high school teachers telling them how it can be downloaded for free. (Somebody's paying for that, too.) Now I want to share with you an email I got from Congresswoman Louise Slaughter this morning on the subject:

As Congress gets back in session this week after a five week recess, I wanted to let you all know that I have been following a story concerning ABC Television’s plan to air a so called "Docudrama" on 9/11 written by a right wing activist.

On September 10 and 11, ABC Television is planning to run an inaccurate film, The Path to 9/11, depicting the events leading up to the 9/11 attacks. The film was written by an avowed conservative activists and it largely places the blame for failing to prevent the attacks on the Clinton administration while whitewashing the failures of the Bush administration.

Reviews of the film have shown it to be full inaccuracies. According to researchers at
Think Progress, the film’s distorted version of history is inconsistent with the 9/11 Commission Report, upon which it claims to be based.*

The events leading up to September 11, 2001 are too important and too tragic for us let anyone play politics with the facts. So, please join me in calling on ABC to make it clear to viewers that this is a docudrama, not a documentary account of the events and political decisions that preceded the attacks.
Sign our petition today urging the network to run explicit disclaimers throughout the airing of The Path to 9/11 stating that it is nothing more than a docudrama:

The American people need to know that those behind this film and the incendiary claims it advances are questionable in their impartiality and accuracy...

Distorting the public’s knowledge about what led to September 11th by airing a film with so many inaccuracies makes it harder to learn from our mistakes and endangers our nation. I am disappointed that ABC has done just that – and done it at a time when partisan, vitriolic comments from top Republicans are undermining Democratic attempts to have a serious, non-partisan discussion about how we can better improve America’s security.

Personally, I think she should demand that it not be aired or that the offending scenes be edited out. What she is asking is very mild. Me, I've written scathing emails to various officials at ABC promising to boycott their advertisers. And I plan to do it, too.

Here's an interesting comment I found as I was searching for infomation about this miniseries:

I wonder if the movie mentions that the Clinton administration CAUGHT the 1993 WTC bombers and they are now in jail.

I wonder if the movie mentions how the Republican controlled congress passed bills that CUT funding for counter-intelligence andcounter-terrorism during the Clinton administration.

I wonder if the movie mentions that the Bush administration dismissed the intel and planning developed by Sandy Berger/Richard Clarke about AlQaeda and even demoted the office of counter-terrorism so it took until August of 01 for Clarke to even get a meeting with Bush about Al Qaeda.

I wonder if the movie mentions that Bush was informed of the 1st plane hitting the WTC BEFORE GOING INTO THE ELEM SCHOOL...and then waited 7 minutes after being informed of the 2nd hit before doing anything.

Finally....I wonder if the movie mentions that the Republican's impeached a sitting president for lying about getting a blow job and yet will NOT investigate the current administration's botched decision on invading Iraq and killing 2600+ soldiers!!!

C'mon people...wake up.

I agree with the writer. I doubt very seriously if these points will be made.
