The reality of the situation

A facebook friend named Mark Manley said the following today:

"In America, we’re supposed to have one person, one vote. But in reality, corporations have more than a single vote. They rig the system in their favor because they essentially buy elected officials."

This is really tragic, people. Utterly tragic.

Yes it is tragic. I heard a recent commentator (sorry, forgotten his name), interviewd by Bill Moyers, who said it would take a "constitutional amendment" to change it and that is exactly what is needed.

Why is it taking so long for this to be recognized and changed? I do not understand.

  2. I don't know, Annie. I don't really understand it. I suppose it has to do with legal definitions (which tend to be different from "person on the street" definitions.)

    It's vexing, isn't it?
